VPK8 is committed to Chasing the Golden Horizon as we work together to Empower All Learners. We invite families, staff, students, and community members to review our 2026–2027 Strategic Plan or Logic Model. Your feedback is important to our continued growth and success. The plan is available on the school webpage under Documents and is always open for review, comments, and suggestions.

No Practice-Monday, August 17, 2026

Dear Valley PK-8 Families,
Our hearts are with each of you as our community navigates the devastating flooding, rockslides, water damage, and destruction caused by this severe weather pattern. We recognize that many of our families may be facing difficult and uncertain circumstances, and we want you to know that you are not alone.
The Valley PK-8 staff is here to support our students and families in any way we can. Your family's safety and well-being are our greatest concerns during this challenging time. Please do not hesitate to reach out if you need assistance, support, resources, or simply someone to help you navigate the days ahead.
Families may contact administrators, Chastity Smith or John McPhail, as well as Terrance Hamm, Social Worker, Kate Belmont, School Counselor, or any member of our Valley PK-8 faculty and staff. We are a school community, and we will continue to care for and support one another.
We also understand that the impact of the flooding may prevent some students from safely attending school tomorrow, Monday, August 17, 2026. If your child or children are unable to attend school due to the impact of the flooding, please send a parent note indicating that their absence was flood-related. These students will not be counted absent.
Please do not place yourself or your family at risk in an effort to get to school. Safety comes first.
Please stay safe, take care of yourselves and one another, and know that the entire Valley PK-8 family is here for you.

Welcome Back!

Welcome to the 2026–2027 school year! We, Chastity Smith and John McPhail, are excited to begin another year of learning, growth, and possibility with you. Our theme, “Chasing the Golden Horizon,” reminds us that the future is bright when we move forward together with purpose and hope. As Theodore Roosevelt said, “Believe you can and you’re halfway there.” This year, we challenge each of us to chase what is golden—the opportunities that inspire us, the relationships that strengthen us, and the learning that transforms us. Together, we will empower all learners to believe in themselves, reach beyond what they thought possible, and boldly pursue their own golden horizon.
