WV Schools Balanced Scorecard
What Is the WV Balanced Scorecard?
The Balanced Scorecard is a tool used by the West Virginia Department of Education (WVDE) to show how well schools and districts are doing. It helps families, educators, and communities understand school performance in key areas.

What Does It Measure?
Each school and district is rated based on several indicators:

Academic Achievement – How well students perform in subjects like English Language Arts (ELA) and Math.

  1. Student Success Indicators – Includes:

    • Chronic Absenteeism (how often students miss school)

    • Post-secondary Outcomes (college or career readiness)

    • Discipline rates (suspensions, etc.)
