Day 1, This yea'r Red Ribbon Week Theme is Be Kind TO YOUR Mind. Live Drug Free!
The theme is a call to action to speak out in support of healthy choices. It also serves as a reminder that we are all empowered with shaping the communities around us through positivity, bravery, and strength. To kick off Red Ribbon Week we had the drug dog here at our school to do a demonstration for our students. The students asked amazing questions and were very interested in the care of the dogs. A great be thank you to the Oak Police Department and Officer Pauley and Officer Wilshire for given their time to share their work with our students.
Tomorrow is Wear a Superhero Shirt The theme is a reminder that by staying drug free, you are sending a message to yourself and others about how much you value yourself, your overall health, your community and your future. One thing's for sure...by making healthy choices, like staying drug free, you are much more likely to achieve your goals. So, aim for the stars! We believe in you.
New River Primary: Dear Panther Families,
Next week we will celebrate Red Ribbon Week. Monday is wake up drug-free wear your pajamas. Tuesday be kind to your mind. Wear a superhero shirt. Wednesday stay bright. Wear everything neon and bright. Thursday say boo to drugs dress in your Halloween costume and Friday. It's crazy to do drugs wear red and crazy socks. I hope everyone will be able to participate. We are doing this to let students know that they can have fun without taking drugs or using alcohol. Please talk to your children about the risk and dangers of using drugs and alcohol at home.

Please join us for the First Chiller Thriller Mental Health Awareness Event in Fayette County, WV, sponsored by Project Aware, Fayette County, WV. The event will take place in both Project Aware Communities: Oak Hill and Valley.
Oak Hill: Oct 22nd @ 12:30, at Oak Hill City Park (Rain Date: Oct 29th @ 12:30)
Our vision is that the entire community will participate in either watching OR learning and performing the Chiller Thriller, which is a simplified and accessible version of the Thriller Dance. The choreography has a standing and seated version that tells a story about the journey we each take with our mental health and is similar to Micheal Jackson’s version as well. Costumes are encouraged, but not required. Feel free to dress as a zombie or any other character of your choice.
Project Aware is visiting area schools to teach the dance to Fayette County students, we are hosting community practice sessions, and we have a tutorial video of the dance on youtube.
Community practices sessions are open and free to the public and will last an hour.
The Old Rosedale School, Oak Hill Oct 20th Times: 10 am or 5:30 pm
