🍂🍁💼🤓 Today we had leaf thieves and detectives at Divide Elementary!🤓💼🍁🍂
In Mr. Anderson's class, students participated in class activities based on the book The Leaf Thief. The book, The Leaf Thief, is a harrowing tale about a squirrel who keeps losing leaves in the fall and blaming others. Students discovered the thief was the wind, and it takes the leaves every fall. Students had to then collect 10 or more leaves individually, while counting, and collecting different colored leaves. Students predicted there would be more brown leaves with a number of 63. Students then tallied and graphed the color of leaves they found by color.
In Mrs. Anderson's class, Kindergarteners used their Detective Toolkit to help them find letters and sounds and the 3rd graders used their detective skills to find the meaning of unknown words using context clues!

Divide Parents! Here is a resource to use to help your kiddo at home with Cold Reads. Cold Reads provide students opportunities to independently apply skills they learn throughout the week with a passage they have not yet been exposed to. Check out your child’s class newsletter for the reading skill they are learning in class and use this resource with stories at home to practice. Cold Reads may be new and challenging for students in the beginning. If you have any questions or concerns, please reach out to your child’s teacher for any additional help!
